The process is managed by the National Institute of Migration (INM) and allows foreigners to regularize their immigration status without having to leave the country. This exchange is necessary for those who have entered with a temporary or permanent residence visa and are seeking to obtain their resident card that allows them to stay and carry out activities in Mexico legally, such as working, studying or relocating with their family.
How long does it take?


The process of Migration Document Exchange It may take between 2 to 4 weeks, depending on the volume of applications at the INM and the correct presentation of the documentation. It is important to start this procedure within the first 30 days after entering the country, to avoid sanctions or migratory problems.

How long can you stay?


The residence card that is obtained after the Migration Document Exchange It is valid for 1 to 4 years for temporary residents, and it's renewable.
