H-L-O-P-Q Temporary Employment Visa
Details:
Generally, a citizen of a foreign country who wishes to enter the United States must first obtain a visa, either a non-immigrant visa for a temporary stay, or a migrant visa for permanent residence. Temporary employment visas are for people who want to enter the United States for work that lasts a certain period of time and are not considered permanent or indefinite. Each of these visas requires that the employer prospectus first submit a petition to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). An approved petition is required to apply for a temporary employment visa.
The temporary employment visa categories are:

H-1B: Person with a Special Occupation

To work in a special occupation. It requires an advanced degree or its equivalent.


H-1B1: Free Trade Agreement (FTA) - Chile, Singapore

To work in a special occupation. It requires a secondary degree that means at least 4 years of study in that specialization. (This visa does not need a prior request.)


H-2A: Temporary Farmer

For temporary or seasonal agricultural work. Limited to citizens or nationals of certain countries only.


H-2B: No Temporary Farmer

For temporary or seasonal non-agricultural work. Limited to citizens or nationals of certain countries only.


H-3: Training or Special Education

To receive training other than medical or academic training that is not available in the country of residence.


L: Intra Company Transfer

To work in a branch, branch or subsidiary of the current employer, in a managerial or executive position. You must have worked for at least one year with the employer.


O: Individual with Extraordinary Achievements or Abilities

For people with extraordinary achievements or abilities in fields such as science, art, education, business, and athletics.


P-1: Individual or Team Athlete or Member of an Entertainment Group

To participate in a specific competition as a member of a team or individually.


P-2: Artist or Entertainment

To participate in a presentation as part of a reciprocal exchange between an American organization and one from the foreign country.


Q-1: Participant in a Cultural Exchange

To participate in training, working or exchanging stories in a cultural exchange program between the United States and the foreign country.
